Xbox money maker Microsoft Corporation has revealed the results for the last quarter of its 2008 fiscal year. Growing by 18% on-year, Q4's revenue topped $15.84 billion and contributed to a full year revenue that surpasses the $60 billion mark and made last year's $51.12 billion look like pocket change. Moreover, Q4 saw Microsoft's operating income and diluted earnings per share grow by 42% and 48% to reach $5.68 billion and $0.46 respectively.
"We had a strong finish in the fourth quarter, which capped off an impressive year for the company. We grew revenue 18% for the year with earnings per share significantly outpacing that," said Chris Liddell, chief financial officer at Microsoft.
Moving forward and looking towards Q1 of fiscal year 2009, Microsoft is predicting a revenue between $14.7 billion and $14.9 billion and an operating income hovering around $5.9 billion / $6.0 billion. Good times.

Comes with a core speed of 675MHz and 512MB of memory running at 1100Mhz. In a CrossFireX compatible motherboard you can use two or more of the specific cards to help you achieve even higher performance. Both GPUâs use the PCI-express Gen2 interface.
The HD 4800 series uses the ATI Avivo HD Technology for enhanced video display and built in hardware for smoother decoding of High-Definition video content. Sapphire also includes a HDMI adaptor which delivers both audio and video on a single cable. The cards are Windows Vista Premium certified and support DirectX 10.1.

A new malware uses MP3âs to infect the computers of peer-to-peer users, by inserting links to insecure web sites, on ASF media files. As David Emm, senior technology consultant for security vendor of Kaspersky Labs said, this was the first time theyâve seen it done, even though they knew of this possibility for some time now.
When you try to play the infected MP3, the Internet Explorer opens in a dangerous web site, asking you to download a codec needed to play the file. The truth is that you download a Trojan horse, which installs a proxy program on your computer to help the âhackers to route other traffic through the compromised PC, helping the hacker essentially cover their tracks for other malicious activityâ,
Most people think that downloading a codec to play the file, is a natural procedure of their player. The best, and of course most secure, thing to do is to decide by yourself which codec youâll download.
Kaspersky calls the malware "Worm.Win32.GetCodec.a", Trend Micro calls it "Troj_Medpinch.aâ and âSecure Computing names it "Trojan.ASF.Hijacker.gen".
